I was delighted to learn that my Maps of Spotsylvania through Cold Harbor book received the 2023 Army Historical Foundation Distinguished Writing Award in the “Reference” category.
I have won several smaller awards for my writing, but this is my first national award.
I have almost completed the first draft of my Maps of the Peninsula and Seven Days Campaigns and then onto the Maps of Chancellorsville!

Congratulations indeed! That is a marvellous achievement. I believe the entire Civil War community has benefited greatly from the ‘Maps of’ series.
I decided to have a second go at John Hennessy’s Return to Bull Run after 20 years since I last cracked it open. This time in conjunction with your Maps of Second Bull Run. What a world of difference to be able to follow the actions with the maps.
I am very excited to see what is next for the series.
